Neer Garh Waterfall is is a multi-tiered limestone waterfall which is Hidden inside the woods of the beautiful hill town Rishikesh and also known as ‘Neer Gaddu’. This amazing and beautiful waterfall falls off a cliff as high as 25 feet. This fall is located about 5km from Lakshman Jhula on Rishikesh-Badrinath highway.

It requires a 15 min of trek on the trails passing through the dense woods. You will find two bridges and a stream of water running along the routes you take. You can spot various flora and fauna flocking around the area. Butterflies of different species can be spotted here.

Untouched by civilization around the waterfall giving you a raw and virgin experience amidst the adventurous city of India.

Neergarh Waterfall Rd, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.

From Rishikesh’s Topovan area, you will travel along Highway 7 (or Karprayag-Haridwar Road) for about a mile until you see signs for Neergarh Falls Road. left side. You’ll follow a steep mountain road up to a parking lot just below the first waterfall.

Trekking in Neer Garh Waterfalls

Neer Gaddu Falls can only be reached by trek. The trek route to Neer Garh Falls begins 3 km from Laxman Jhula on the Badrinath Highway. One has to trek 1 km for Neergarh Falls I and 3 km for Neergarh Falls II. trek starts from 5 km from Laxman Jhula.

It is a two-tiered waterfall with two bathing pools. After 200 meters trek from the road there is very small waterfall where visitors can also take bath in a small pool. Further 1.2 km trek will take you to the big and main waterfall which has a big pool.

Trekking to the waterfall is an adventurous activity as it involves walking through the jungle on narrow paths. It is a beautiful waterfall and standing near the waterfall is very refreshing.

Best time to visit Neer Garh Waterfalls

The best time to visit Neergarh Waterfalls is after the monsoon season between October to mid November as you can witness the stunning cascading waterfall thousands of feet from the lush green hillside.

Summer: The months from the beginning of March to the first week of May maintain a pleasant temperature which is best for escaping the scorching sun in the forests. However, you cannot enjoy the best of the waterfall.

Monsoon: May to September are the months when the hill station receives very heavy rainfall which gives rise to waterfalls to fall with immense force. However, you should keep in mind that heavy rains cause landslides and heavy rains will also make your outdoor tours difficult.

Winter: The months from October to February are the winter months. As the hill town receives flakes of snow in extreme cold, you can plan your visit from early October to mid-November.

By Air:- The nearest airport to the waterfalls is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. You can catch a bus or hire a taxi to reach the waterfall. It would take around an hour to cover this distance of 26 KM.

 

By Train:- Rishikesh Railway Station is just 9 KM away from the waterfall. You should find a train stopping at this junction. You can get down here to fetch a bus, a local ferry or hire a taxi to reach your destination.

By Road:- Rishikesh Bus Stand is the nearest bus stand to fall with the distance of 8.5 KM. It would take around 30 mins to cover this distance in a jeep or a hired cab.

Laxman Jhula was built in 1939. There are spectacular views from the bridge.
