Badrinath mandir is one of Uttarakhand’s four major pilgrimages, or Char Dhams. It is also called the Badrinarayan Temple. It is situated in the town of Badrinath. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are the four pilgrimage sites that make up the Char Dham. Badrinath mandir was reestablished as a major pilgrimage site by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in the 8th century. At that time pilgrims used to travel miles on foot to reach Badrinath temple. Badrinath temple has been battling disasters for thousands of years. This temple has been repeatedly destroyed by earthquakes and avalanches. This temple is a holy pilgrimage site of Vaishno religion.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
Between May and October is the best time to visit the Badrinath Temple. October through November is when the temple is closed; it reopens in April.
