Panch Kedar is one the most important pilgrimage site for the hindu. Panch Kedar consists of 5 temples that are dedicated to the deity shiva. Tungnath Temple Trek

Chopta Tungnath Trek is a simple and easy trek of 3.5 km. The trek starts from the Chopta Tungnath Valley. The Tungnath temple is at an altitude of 2700 m. During winter the trek is completely covered with snow many people like to do this trek. The trek in the month of December and January will be completely different from the other months. It will be a bit difficult because of the snow but will be a memory to last a lifetime.

Chandrashila Peak Trek

It is one of the most popular treks in the Chopta Tungnath Valley.  A trek of approx 9 km. On the way falls the sacred Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world. Same as the Tungnath temple trek this trek will be worth doing in the month of December and January.

Places To Visit In Chopta Valley

Chandrashila Temple

The Chandrashila temple is situated on the top of the Chandranath mountain at an altitude of about 4,000m. It is a simple temple made of stone this temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga.  The trek to the temple starts from Chopta Valley and is 3.5 km. From the peak, you will have spectacular views of several Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Bandarpoonch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Peak.

There are various ancient history and hindu deity is associated with the places such as it is said that Lord Rama meditated after defeating king Ravana. The moon-god Chandra spent time in penance here.

Deoriatal

Deoriatal is a beautiful lake situated at an altitude of 2,438 m in the Garhwal region, Uttarakhand. It is 50 km from Chopta Valley. It is also called Devaria or Deoriya and it is 3 km from the villages of Mastura and Sari on the Ukhimath. It is famous for its mesmerizing reflections of the Chaukhamba range in crystal clear water.

Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary

Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary is 6 km from the Chopta Tungnath. The sanctuary is spread over 6 sq km. Since the sanctuary is situated in the middle of dense forests, you will get to see different species of trees and flowers. It is a home of rare musk deer, and other rare Himalayan fauna and one of the best places for bird site seeing.

Tungnath Temple

It is the highest Shiva temple in the world on the route of the trek from Tungnath Chopta to Chandrashila peak. It is one of the shrines of Panch Kedar. The temple is located in the Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand. Tungnath Temple holds immense importance and significance in Hinduism. There are many legends stories and deities which are related to this temple

Best Time To Visit Chopta Valley

Tourists visit Chopta Valley throughout the year but November to May are the best months to visit. At this time the valley is completely covered with snow. If you are an adventurous person who loves trekking and mountain biking then you can visit from April to July. At this time, the temperature will be pleasing you can do various activities easily like trek, bird site seeing, etc, and will get a clear nature view of Tungnath valley.
