Hanuman Garhi Nainital is a famous Hindu temple situated at an altitude of 1951 meters above sea level, near the Mall Road of Nainital. The temple is about 3.5 km from Tallital Mall Road which is well connected by road.
The temple holds myth or history as it was built by Neem Karoli Baba who was a famous saint during the 1950s. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, who is considered a symbol of strength, loyalty, and dedication. Lord Hanuman devoted his entire life to the service of Lord Rama. The temple houses a huge idol of Lord Hanuman who is believed to protect and guard the area and the local people. A golden canopy is also installed over the idol.
The inner shrine houses an idol of Lord Hanuman opening his chest and revealing images of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita in his heart. Lord Hanuman, also known as Maruti Nandan, is the son of Lord Pawan (Vayu) and Anjani Mata. The temple also has shrines of Lord Shiva and Lord Rama.
The temple is strategically located on a hill from where you get an excellent view of sunrise and sunset. You can also get an excellent view of the Terai Valley from the temple. Within the complex, on the other side of the hill, are the temple of Shitala Mata and the ashram of Leela Sah Bapu.
