Lakhamandal Temple is an ancient temple situated in the Jaunsar-Bawar of Dehradun district in Uttarakhand. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva. The temple is adorned with marvelous artistic work. Lakhamandal gets its name from words: Lakh meaning “many” and Mandals meaning “temples” or “Lingam”.

Lakhamandal Temple Beliefs
The miraculous temple we are talking about is actually located at a place called Lakhamandal, at some distance from Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand called Devbhoomi.
Significance of Lakhamandal The main attraction of the temple complex is the Shivling made of graphite. When water is poured on the Shivalingam, it reflects light and shines.
According to beliefs, during the Mahabharata period, Duryodhana had built Lakshagriha here to kill the Pandavas by burning them. During Agyatvas, Yudhishthira established the Shivling at this place. Which is still present in the temple. The Shivling present in Lakhamandal shiv mandir is known as Mahamundeshwar Shivling.
In front of this Shivling present in the courtyard of the temple, two gatekeepers are standing facing west.
It is believed that any person who had attained death was placed in front of these gatekeepers, then he would come back to life when the priest sprinkled the holy water. Thus the dead person was brought here and became alive again for a few moments.
After being alive, the said person takes the name of Shiva and takes the water of the Ganges. As soon as he takes the water of the Ganges, his soul leaves the body again.

It is said that the Lakhamandal Temple is the home of wax that Duryodhana constructed in order to slay the Pandavas. The Pandava Gufa (“Witness the Pandavas exit plan”) cave is one of a network of caves that are located close to the settlement. According to legend, Mahabali Bheema was the one who excavated the Pandava guff.

Location:- This temple is located on the Mussoorie-Yamnotri route, past Kempty Falls, 120 kilometers from Dehradun and 35 km from Chakrata. The Yamuna River runs next to the village of Lakhamandal, where the temple is located.
Its construction is in the North Indian architectural style, which is typical of the districts of mountainous states like Garhwal and Himachal Pradesh.
