Rashtriya Indian Military College:-
A prominent boarding school for boys exclusively located in Doon Valley, Dehradun, Uttarakhand is called the Rashtriya Indian Military College, or RIMC. The school was renamed, after 1947 from its previous name, Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College.
The RIMC has a long history of serving as a training ground for the Indian Armed Forces and the National Defence Academy. Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force Top ranking officers are known as “Rimcollians,” the term most commonly used to refer to RIMC graduates.

The British Empire founded the RIMC in 1922 to prepare native Indian cadets for admission to the Royal Military Academy. After completing their training, the students became officers in the British Indian Army.

- Library:- This Boarding School in Uttarakhand features a library named for the illustrious Old Boy, Major Somnath Sharma, who was the first to receive the highest Gallantry Award, the Param Vir Chakra, posthumously in 1948. The library contains more than 18,000 volumes, periodicals, magazines, and some extremely rare and valuable manuscripts.
- Computer Centre:- Even though RIMC is a long-standing, traditional organization, it keeps up with the times when it comes to information technology. There are two laboratories with the newest software and technology that offer lots of opportunities for learning and improving computer skills. The brand-new, cutting-edge Learning Resource Center enhances the IT and library capabilities even further.
- Swimming:- Cadets have the opportunity to compete in a variety of swimming competitions at the district, interschool, and intersectional levels. This Dehradun school features a 10-meter diving platform and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
- Horse Riding:- Cadets engage in contests at different levels. There are 19 horses in the college, and their trainers are qualified. For the riders, the fully equipped jumping arena provides an amazing platform.

RIMC Dehradun Admission Process
Every six months, about 25 cadets are accepted. The candidates must be at least 11-1/2 years old or older on January 1st or July 1st of the term they are joining. Only Class VIII applicants are accepted to Rashtriya Indian Military College. At the time of enrollment, the candidate must be enrolled in Class VII classes or have passed Class VII at an accredited school.
The appropriate State Governments must receive the completed application forms. The All India Entrance Examination, which is conducted twice a year and consists of written examinations with 125-mark English, 200-mark Mathematics, and 75-mark General Knowledge question papers, is used to select candidates. Selected candidates are then invited to participate in a 50-mark Viva-Voce test.
Only applicants to class I, or class VIII, are considered for admission. When applying to the RIMC, candidates must be enrolled in at least class VII of a recognized school. Additionally, they must meet the required medical criteria to be medically eligible for admission to the College. State-by-state allocation of vacancies is typically one. Nonetheless, there are up to two openings in certain heavily populated states.
