Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is one of the famous Hindu temples located in Rishikesh, Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.

The main deity of the temple is Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy, popularly called Lord Balaji in the region. It is very peaceful place and very holy place.

The temple houses goddesses Sridevi, Bhudevi, Goda Devi (Sri Andal), Sri Lakshmi Narayan Swamy, Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy and Garudalwar among others.

The major festivals conducted every year at the temple are:

  • Brahmotsavam (in the months of May and June)
  • Bandara (on the death anniversary of Swami Satchidananda Saraswathi Maharaj.

All the seva and rituals are being offered to Lord Balaji at the Tirumala Temple from Suprabhatam to Ekanta Seva.

History of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple

Balaji Temple was built in 1972 near “Andhra Ashram” which is managed by TTD. Andhra Ashram was built in 1942 by “Shri Satchidananda Saraswati Maharaj” and was handed over to TTD in 1969.

This is the abode of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. After the construction of the temple, “Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Ramanuja Pedda Jeeyar Swami” performed the “Samprokshana” on 30 November 1972.

Since then Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam also maintains the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Rishikesh.

Ram Jhula is an iron suspension bridge located 3 km north of Rishikesh. It is built over the river Ganga to cross the river and is a landmark of this place. Ram Jhula has been recently built between Sivananda Ashram and Savargashram. The natural beauty of the area can be seen from the bridge, the sound of fresh air, and flowing water.
