The Doon School:-

The Doon School Dehradun is one of the most renowned and regarded as one of the Best Schools in India. Satish Ranjan Das, a relative of Indian freedom hero Chittaranjan Das and the former Chief Justice of India, Sudhi Ranjan Das founded Doon School in 1935. Arthur E. Foot, a former science master at Eton College, served as the school’s first headmaster. This Dehradun boarding school is only for boys.

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) is associated with the Doon School. The two public examinations administered by the Council are the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) at the end of year X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) at the end of year XII. The language of teaching is English. Annually, both exams take place in March. This Boarding School in Uttarakhand has been providing the International Baccalaureate Diploma with the ISC since April 2007. Numerous of our students pursue higher education abroad after passing the +2 test, and they will gain from having the option to choose between the IB Diploma and the ISC.

There are two terms in the academic year at Doon: the Spring Term, which runs from February 1 to May 31, and the Autumn Term, which runs from August 1 to December 15.

Art & Media School: During the school’s platinum jubilee celebrations in October 2010, then-Union Minister for Human Resource Development Shri Kapil Sibal formally launched the Art and Media School. There are many classroom areas, a film studio, an Apple Mac studio, and an auditorium within this magnificent 25,000-square-foot structure. In addition, there are reading rooms, trophy rooms, and museum areas.

  • Auditorium: This amazing building has an acoustically designed 100-seat auditorium for the School. It has shown to be highly well-liked for meetings, plays, debating competitions, guest lecturers, and small conferences.
  • The Careers Information, Education, and Guidance Department: One of the school’s most creative and active departments is this one. The department has a big, roomy office in the Art and Media Center. It also contains a library of digital and hard copy materials that instructors and boys can use for study.
  • Dining Hall: Our Central Dining Hall, sometimes referred to as “the CDH,” is a contemporary structure that is roomy and open. It serves the three major meals of the day to the boys and staff, along with morning and afternoon break snacks.

  • Music School: This is a top-notch facility for a department that is expanding and changing. Hindustani classical music and Western music are also housed in the Music School. Boys can use the music library, the performance hall, and private music rooms. For the Trinity Board Music Examinations, boys can take academic music courses.
  • The Rose Bowl: A prominent feature of the school’s grounds and past is the Rose Bowl. The school’s initial male cohorts constructed this amphitheater in the late 1930s and early 1940s. The building had a whole renovation from 2009 to 2011, and it now serves as a magnificent location for plays, musicals, assemblies, and award ceremonies.
  • Science Department: This school in Uttarakhand features a scientific museum in addition to well-equipped classrooms for the three separate sciences: biology, chemistry, and physics.

Doon School Admission Process

  • This Uttarakhand ICSE school accepts boys in January and April each year. It admits into the 8th grade (C form) in January and the 7th standard (D form) in April.
  • In September of the year that he takes the entrance exam, a boy must be older than 11 but younger than 12 to be admitted to the 7th standard. He must be older than 12 but younger than 13 in September of the test-taking year to be accepted to the 8th standard. The Doon School has two phases for admissions. Boys initially take an admission exam, which is conducted in India’s largest cities (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Dehradun).
  • Boys who pass the written exam advance to the next round of admissions, when they will be asked for an in-person interview. Interviews take place at the school and in a few other Indian cities in December (Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore/Hyderabad/Chennai).
  • Boys are not admitted to the Doon School after the 8th standard. The candidate has to be of the above-mentioned age to retake the admission examination. The number of boys accepted each year is determined by the openings that become available after the candidates for the ISC and ICSE have left the School.

Entrance Exam is held in October each year.
