Mukteshwar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple which is 350 year old. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a famous tourist destination and situated at Mukteshwar in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.
This hill temple is situated at an altitude of 2,312 meters above sea level and Offers a fascinating view of the real landscape. You will get a beautiful view of the Himalayas from the temple. Mukteshwar temple History
Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple is established by Pandavas during the 12 years of forest life. According to Puranas, it is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva killed a demon and gave him Mukti.
Mukteshwar Dham was the abode of Saint Shri Mukteshwar Maharaj Ji, who lived here in a cottage. One of his disciple Swami Sanshudhanand ji now lives there.
According to devotees belief, couples longing for a child who offer their prayers with mud lamps in their hands at this temple are soon blessed and bestowed with their wish.

The shrine has a simple architecture with a flight of stone stairs that lead devotees to the main shrine. A Shivaling made out of white marble with a copper yoni. Mahadev shivaling is surrounded by the deities of Ganesh, Nandi, Hanuman, Vishnu and Brahma.

By Train:- Kathgodam Railway station is the nearest railhead to Mukteshwar (62 km away from the temple). Trains are frequent to Kathgodam as it is the gateway of Kumaon region. Taxis and buses are easily available from Kathgodam to Mukteshwar.
By Air:- Pantnagar is the nearest airport, which is located about 94 kms from Mukteshwar. Pantnagar Airport is well connected by metaled road with Mukteshwar.
