Here on three surfaces the darshan of all the three worlds takes place simultaneously. Patal Lok on the surface of the river below, Shiva cave in the middle and Mata Bhadrakali on the surface above are seen simultaneously.

According to the local people, this supernatural abode of Mata Bhadrakali is said to be more than 2000 years old. The people of the Joshi family of Bhadrakali village regularly worship in this temple for generations.

Apart from Shrimad Devi Bhagwat, this place is also mentioned in the Manas section of Shiv Puran and Skanda Puran, it is said that Mata Bhadrakali herself did penance at this place for 6 months. Here on the Ashtami date of Navratri, devotees do penance for the whole night with a lamp in hand to get the desired results. It is said that the feet of Shankaracharya were also lying at this place.
