Dehradun To Sankri (200 Km- 8Hr)

Your Bali Pass Trek adventure begins in Dehradun, where you can easily find a bus or shared taxi to reach Sankari Village from Dehradun Railway Station.These transportation options are readily available just outside the railway station. The distance from Dehradun to Sankari Village is approximately 220 kilometers. 

Try to leave for Sankri in the early morning. Make sure to have your documents readily accessible for inspection at the checkpoint.

RAINBASERA TO RUINSARA TAL (Drive- 12Km | Trek 14 Km)

On the second day of your trek, starting from Sankri, you’ll need to make your way to Seema village. Today you have to cover a 14-kilometer trek and a short drive. After trekking around 14 kilometres, you’ll reach Seema, where you’ll set up camp for the night.

The distance between Sankri and Taluka is approximately 10 kilometres, and the route offers stunning scenic views.

SEEMA TO RAINBASERA (Trek- 13 Km)

Begin your day with an early morning breakfast, and then start your trek of approximately 13 kilometers. As you trek, the landscape will transform from forests to lush green fields. Along the way, you can take a break at Debshu Bugyal, a charming little meadow that provides breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, including Kala Nag.

During your journey, you’ll cross the Supin river and eventually arrive at the Rainbasera campsite.

RAINBASERA TO RUINSARA TAL (Trek- 8Km)

On day 4, after breakfast, begin your 8-kilometer trek to Ruinsara tal, a popular trekking destination. You can expect to complete this trek in about five hours. Ruinsara tal is a peaceful glacial lake nestled amidst mountains and meadows, offering stunning views of peaks like Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, and Dhumdhar Khai. You’ll spend the night at Ruinsara.

RUINSARA TAL TO ODARI (Trek- 6 Km)

Today’s trek is easier and shorter compared to other days. After breakfast, start you trek to Odari which will be of 4 kilometers. The trail takes you down to the Supin river. At the end of this meadow, you’ll find a natural rock cave called Odari, where you’ll camp for the night.

Local stories say that King Bali from Hindu epics once stayed here for a night before crossing the Bali Pass. This trek takes about 2 hours and offers a nice break during your long and challenging journey.

ODARI TO BALI PASS BASE-CAMP (Trek- 5Km)

Day 6 is the toughest part of your journey. After breakfast, begin the trek to Bali Pass base-camp, which is at a high altitude of 4,678 meters. The trail is very steep, so you’ll be climbing quite a bit. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated by drinking water regularly. It’s crucial to take precautions to prevent Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) because you’ll be gaining a lot of height.

The distance you’ll cover is around 5 kilometers, but the time it takes will depend on your physical fitness. Be prepared for sub-zero temperatures at night.

BASE-CAMP TO LOWER DHAMINI VIA BALI PASS

On day 7, you will ascend 600 meters and descend 1,524 meters through rugged terrain. The snow-covered trail to the pass takes about 3 hours. The pass offers breathtaking views. The descent is also challenging, taking up to 6 hours to reach the Lower Dhamini campsite.

The next day, you’ll have an easier walk to Janki Chatti and then drive back to Dehradun.
