Day 1

RISHIKESH TO SARI

Start your adventure by traveling from Rishikesh to Sari, which is your first base camp. It’s about an 8-hour drive, and along the way, you’ll pass through Devprayag, a sacred place where two rivers, Bhagirathi and Alakananda, merge. Sari is a small village with about 100 houses, surrounded by beautiful paddy fields and stunning scenery. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Mt. Chandrashila from here.

  • Roadway: Rishikesh is well conected by Roadway, you can eaily get bus for rishikesh from Delhi ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Meerut.
  • Airway: Jollygrant airport is 21 km away from Rishikesh, you can easily get a taxi to Rishikesh  from the airport.
  • Railyway: Rishikesh is well connected by Railway network. You can find taxis and buses readily available in Rishikesh for onward travel to Muni-ki-Reti and Swargashram.
Day 2

SARI TO DEORIATAL

Start your adventure by traveling from Rishikesh to Sari, which is your first base camp. Day 3

DEORIATAL TO SYALMI VIA ROHINI BUGYAL

On the third day of the Chopta Chandrashila Trek, you’ll be walking through the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, a treat for wildlife lovers. The trail is stunning, with rhododendron and maple trees lining your way. You might even catch glimpses of Kedar Dome and Chaukhamba peaks through the trees. In March and April, the trail is covered in red and pink rhododendron flowers. You’ll pass by Rohini Bugyal, a beautiful meadow surrounded by rhododendron forests, and continue to the Syalmi campsite.

Day 4

DEORIATAL TO SYALMI VIA ROHINI BUGYAL

On 4th day, you will cover 6 km trek. You will be passing through a ridge called Tikidi Khal, with dense forest and a small, lovely meadow.

Day 5

TREK TO CHANDRASHILA PEAK AND BACK TO SARI

If you want to witness a get stunning sunrise from Tungnath, try to wake up early. The path from Chopta to Tungnath is well-defined, about 3 km long, and you’ll see the highest Lord Shiva temple in the world. Afterward, make your way to Chandrashila Peak, which is 1.5 km above the temple complex. The views from the peak are incredible, with sightings of notable mountains in Uttarakhand. Descend back to Chopta in the evening, which is relatively easy and takes about 2-3 hours.

The road from Baniya Kund to Chopta is in good condition and will take around 3 hours to cover the 75 km distance.

Day 6

CHOPTA TO RISHIKESH

On the final day of the trek, you’ll hit the road for a 170 km drive back to Rishikesh, which should take approximately 5 hours. You’ll then be ready for your next adventure to a new destination.
