Geeta Bhawan Rishikesh
Geeta Bhawan Ashram is a large complex situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges in the Swargashram area of Rishikesh. Geeta Bhawan is one of the biggest, ancient pilgrimage and popular ashrams in Rishikesh. It is also known as Guru Shri Ram Sukh Dasji.
Geeta Bhawan has many discourse halls and more than 1000 rooms for the devotees to stay free of cost. Simple food is available at a low cost. Discourses are held regularly at Geeta Bhavan Ashram. People from all over the world come for discourses and meditation.
One of the most famous attractions of Geeta Bhavan is the Lakshmi Narayan Temple, which beautifully narrates the story of Lord Krishna through detailed paintings. Geeta Bhawan Ashram is part of Geeta Press. The walls of the complex have inscriptions from the famous epics Mahabharata and Ramayana.

Inside Gita Bhawan Ashram
Geeta Bhawan Ashram includes Lakshmi Narayan Temple, a book shop (all books printed by Geeta Press), a cloth shop, an Ayurvedic medicine shop and a large space for Satsang (discourses).
The ancient banyan tree located inside the premises is also a famous place in the ashram. Various famous sages like Swami Ramatirtha had done penance under this huge tree many years back.
The trees and the surrounding silent woods make an ideal place for meditation and introspection, and there are also two well-built bathing ghats in front of the Geeta Bhavan.

Gita Press is a well-known publishing house for Hindu religious books. Gita, Ramayana, Shrimad Bhagwat and all Upanishads are sold by Gita Press more than any other press.

Laxmi Narayan Temple
Laxmi Narayan Temple is an interesting temple to visit in Geeta Bhawan Ashram Rishikesh. The paintings in the Lakshmi Narayan temple tell the story of Lord Krishna. The teachings of the Bhagavad Gita are also written on the walls of the ashram.
According to the epic Mahabharata, Lord Krishna recited the Bhagavad Gita to King Arjuna in the battle of Kurukshetra. Lord Krishna was the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu who appeared to kill the demon Kansa. Lord Vishnu is the maintainer and protector in Hindu mythology.
The Bhagavad Gita is revered by many Hindus as the most important holy book of Hinduism.
Ayurvedic department
In the Ayurvedic Department of the Ashram, medicines are prepared according to the instructions given in the scriptures. Himalayan herbs and the holy water of the Ganges are used to make these medicines, which are then distributed free of cost to dispensaries, and at a nominal cost to the general public.
Geeta Bhawan Accommodation
Geeta Bhavan has more than 1000 rooms free of cost for the comfortable stay of the devotees. These rooms are very basic, and have only one bed inside, with shared bathrooms. Simple vegetarian food, kitchen, groceries and Indian sweets are also available inside the ashram at very reasonable prices.

Best time to visit Geeta Bhawan
The best time to visit Geeta Bhavan Ashram is during the summer months from late April to early July. Special all-day satsang programs are held at this time. Thousands of people come here during this time.
