About 60 km from Bageshwar, there is a grand and attractive temple of Shri 1008 Moolnarayan Devta on the summit of Bhanar village. Moolnarayan Temple also known as Shikhar Temple falls in the Kapkot area of Bageshwar district and is a center of immense reverence for the people of the surrounding. The height of Shikhar Mulnarayan Temple is about 2700 meters above sea level.

A fair is held in Shikhar temple on the night of Navami in Navratri. Here people enjoy the fair with Jhoda and Chachari. Dangris from many villages brings incarnations to this temple. The devotees who come here never leave empty-handed. It is said that when the fruit is thrown in the form of a Dangri, then the wish of the person to whom this fruit goes is fulfilled. Every year there is an influx of devotees.

The people of this place believe that the first grain of the crop is offered to Moolnarayan Devta in the form of seed. Here Pandit Ji says. That this temple was small earlier, later it was built by Badrinarayan Das ji, he says that earlier people did not know about this temple.

On this temple hill, the Shoka people used to stay here with their sheep and goats for a month or two, they say that the Shoka people were very rich, and their business of gold was going on.

Those people used to bring Sane with them and keep them in this temple. One day after feeding such goats, Shoka fell asleep in the evening as Shoka woke up in the morning and sees.

All the goats and sheep had turned into wild animals and the gold that was meant to be had turned into stone, then Shoka started crying seeing all this, then Lord Moolnarayan called out, go to your home, you will get all this in your home, Shoka goes to his home johar. He goes and sees that his golden palace has been built there.

Seeing all this he becomes “mantra mukd”. In this way, people had unwavering faith in Moolnarayan Devta.

Lord Moolnarayan And His Sons

Shikhar Temple surrounded by dense oak trees is very peaceful and a center of immense devotion. From this temple, you can have a beautiful view of Panchachuli, Nanda Devi mountain, and the entire Himalayan peak. One has to climb a lot to reach Shikhar Mulnarayan Temple. The two sons of Lord Mulnarayan are also situated at some distance from this peak. The name of one of his sons is Banjain and the name of the other son is Naulinga.

Banjain(बंजैण):– Bhanar is a place where there is a temple of Lord Banjain. This temple is also surrounded by a grand oak tree. This temple falls on the way to the peak.

Naulinga(नौलिंग):– Reema is another way to reach the peak Sangad. Sanagad is at a distance of 4 kilometers from Reema. Sanagad has a grand temple of the Nauling God. Devotees come to this temple from far and wide. A fair is also held here on the day of Navami in Navratri. In which a crowd of people gathers.
