Sureshwari Devi Temple is an old temple situated at a distance of 8 km from Haridwar, in the dense forests of Rajaji National Park in Ranipur; Siddhapeeth Maa Sureshwari Devi is located on “Surput Parvat”. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and has the power to bring spirituality into the lives of the devotees.

Mythology Behind Sureshwari Devi Temple

The temple has great mythological importance; this temple is counted among the famous Sidhpeeths, which is also mentioned in Kedarkhand of Skandapuran. It is believed that Chandravanshi lost the war with the son of Raja Raji and was expelled from heaven.

This temple believes that when Devraj Indra hid in fear from Raja Raji’s son, then Brihaspati Guru asked him to praise Lord Vishnu; after praising Lord Vishnu, Vishnu ji said, “The power that is Maya, your Can protect, you go to her refuge, she rains in the form of clouds, heats in the form of sun, exploits in the form of wind.

Then fearful Indra started the penance of Maa Bhagwati. Pleased with the prayer of Devraj Indra, Mother Bhagwati appeared to Indra at this place.

Being a forest complex, the forest department charges Rs 50 per vehicle ticket from private vehicles.  You can go by bike and car. Auto-E-rickshaws and Vikrams also ply to the temple from Ranipur mode.
