Naukuchiatal Lake as the name suggest it’s a nine-cornered Lake. This lake is 175 feet deep and situated at an elevation of 1,220 metres above sea level. This lake is having a length of 983 metres, breadth 693 metres and depth about 40.3 metres. It is the deepest lake in the greater Nainital area. Along with boating with children, you can also do many activities like mountain biking, fishing, parasailing. Naukuchiatal Lake can be visited at any time of the year, but the fun of visiting in summer and monsoon is different. This lake is situated at a distance of 2.2 km from Naukuchiatal.

This lake is never falling short of water, it is regularly filled by the underwater stream.

Mythology about Naukuchiatal Nainital

According to Hindu Mythology, this lake was created by Lord Brahma who performed penance here. There is a small lord Brahma temple in the village. According to locals if any devotee will perform the Parikarma of the lake, he or she will be blessed by Brahmaji.

Myth about this lake 

There are some myths about this lake. Someone states that if someone can count all the nine corners of the lake at once with both feet on the ground, he/she will disappear and will attain Moksha or Nirvana instantly. It means that it is impossible to see all the nine corners of the lake at once by setting foot on the ground.

By Road:- Several private and government buses are available from ISBT Dehradun and ISBT Anand Vihar Delhi to Nainital, Haldwani and Kathgodam. Both AC and Non AC buses are available from Delhi to Nainital. 

By Train:- Kathgodam Railway station is the nearest railway station which is 44km away from Naukuchiatal. There is an abundance of bus and taxi service from the railway station to the Naukuchiatal.

By Air:- Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport to the Naukuchiatal. It is about 74 km from Naukuchiatal. This place is well connected by road. You can hire a private or shared taxi from the airport which will take around 2 to 3 hours to reach the Naukuchiatal.
